Air quality judgement but no penalty

Slovenia has been condemned by the European Court of Justice for allowing excessive levels of microparticles between 2005 and 2007.

The judgement identifies that Slovenia breached EU limits for PM10, but has not given it a penalty – this would only come with a second breach. Five other member states have been referred to the ECJ for breaches of limits set in the EU’s air quality directive (CY, E, I, S, P).
